Gillian Beaumont Legal has been engaged to recruit an experienced employment lawyer with at least 10 years PQE to join a Commonwealth Government owned corporation in its Canberra office on a permanent basis.
Our client operates in a discreet regulatory environment and is undertaking some major reform projects across its operations, including the implementation of large IT initiatives that will impact the current and future workforce. In addition to providing general employment law advice, and working with business areas to improve recruitment and HR practices, the successful candidate will manage a number of significant employment and non-employment litigation matters. The Office of the General Counsel is a small but collegiate environment where quality is emphasised above quantity, and where people are valued.
Extensive employment law experience is essential, including experience contributing at a strategic level to, or advising on, workforce development and HR practices. High level stakeholder management experience is also essential, including prior in-house experience, perhaps gained on secondment. An interest in developing junior lawyers in due course, and an ability to work autonomously and manage a practice, are elements of this position that will appeal to relationship-focused lawyers who understand the importance of "getting out there" and engaging positively with technical and operational personnel.
The salary for this position is around $200,000 plus superannuation. The position is located in Canberra.
