Assistant Director | Compliance
We are seeking enquiries from compliance professionals with government experience to fill an Assistant Director position in the Compliance Division at a Commonwealth Government Department. This position is being offered initially on the basis of a 12 month contract.
The Compliance Division manages specific risks by establishing compliance approaches for all regulatory functions of the Department in accordance with a discreet strategy. The Division develops and implements processes, standards and targets to measure the management of these risks. The successful candidate will lead a team with responsibility for undertaking regulatory, investigative and enforcement actions associated with the relevant risks.
The team is involved in conducting complex investigations - sometimes into serious criminal offending - and works with investigation teams around Australia. The team also contributes to the development and provision of enforcement and regulatory policy and advice. The team works closely with an enforcement team and the dynamic between these teams - and across the Division - is professional and collegiate.
In leading the team, the successful candidate will bring extensive experience in government, and be able to highlight experience in investigations, regulation, risk analysis, statutory interpretation, stakeholder engagement and change management. The successful candidate will also bring strong team management experience and have a passion for mentoring and developing less experienced staff. Exceptional oral and written communication skills are essential. Qualifications in audit, financial management or law are highly desirable.
This position is offered as a 12 month non-ongoing contract with salary between $95,000 and $110,000 plus super. It is the Department's intent to eventually fill the position on a permanent basis. To be eligible for this role, you must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Baseline Security Clearance with the Australian Government Vetting Agency.
